Need a Dermatologist Mole Check? Las Vegas Integrative Dermatology: The Skin Check.


What to Expect at Las Vegas Integrative Dermatology:


  1. When we say "full," we mean "full" skin check. If acceptable to you, we will be looking at ALL areas including the bottoms of your feet, scalp, mouth, and nails. You are in charge, so if you would rather have a limited skin exam, we can do that too! Some patients feel more comfortable with a partial skin exam. You tell us where you want us to look, and we will look there. For melanoma patients, we strongly recommend full skin exams including lymph node exams. At Las Vegas Integrative Dermatology, we prefer spot check over dermatologist mole check. We check ALL of your spots! Sometimes dangerous spots do not look like moles!

  2. We will be using a dermatoscope, a special magnifying and polarizing device. This allows us to look closely at your skin spots. It doesn't hurt.

  3. If biopsies are recommended, we typically do those the same day, but we can schedule a another appointment based on patient preference.

  4. We won't do anything without discussing it with you first and getting your permission. You are part of our team here at Las Vegas Integrative Dermatology. We customize treatment plans for each individual patient.

  5. If skin cancer is caught early, it is often treatable. Melanoma and other skin cancers, if not caught early, can be fatal. Skin checks are annoying, but they are important.


Things to Bring to Your Appointment at Las Vegas Integrative Dermatology:


  1. Dermatology medical records including biopsy/pathology reports.

  2. A list of your skin cancers: Where, when, and how each skin cancer was treated.

  3. A list of your current medications and supplements.

  4. A list of spots you are concerned about.


Things to Do for Your Skin Check Appointment:


  1. Where loose fitting clothing. You will be taking it off.

  2. Where shoes that you can easily remove.

  3. Remove nail polish if possible. We check your nails!

  4. Avoid wearing make-up.

  5. Avoid wearing hair products. We check your scalp!
